About the Owner

Whispering Farms Montessori Academy is owned by Ms. Kiran Rai. Kiran has a Bachelor Degree in Education and is an AMI Montessori Trained Teacher. She received her Montessori Training in Calcutta where she studied under the directorship of Mr. A.M. Joosten who was a personal representative of Dr. Maria Montessori. Her first experience in teaching was in India in 1977. She moved to the States in 1978 after she got married and took up teaching in New Jersey at Raritan Valley Montessori School. She moved to Texas in 1982 and soon started a family. Due to her complete belief and commitment to the Montessori Methods both her children attended a Montessori school in Plano, Texas until they were ready for the 1st grade. She was a Primary Class teacher at Montessori New Beginnings in Plano, where she also served as Director, leaving only to bring up her young family.

The Montessori Method of Education has been and is still very close to her heart. She has advocated this training to many a friend who are now themselves successful Montessori Teachers or School Directors. Now with her family all grown up and ready to take on their lives, she has found the right opportunity to fulfill her dream of acquiring a Montessori School.

She has big plans for this school and would like to see a strong Montessori Program in every classroom. The school will feature Spanish as an introduction of a second language starting as early as in the Toddler classes. Music and Computer classes enrich the curriculum to provide a well rounded program for the children. After school programs are available for children who would be interested in some sports, or ballet and tap dancing.
